About Indrani De, CFA, PRM
Indrani De, CFA, PRM is a senior investment executive with a background in asset allocation, economic forecasting, risk management, research and portfolio management across asset classes in public and private markets, and a passionate pioneer in sustainable investing and climate change. She is the Head of Global Investment Research at LSEG (The London Stock Exchange Group), leading a global team across Americas, EMEA and APAC for producing investment and markets research for the FTSE Russell Index and Benchmark Solutions. She individually authors the highly acclaimed “Asset Allocation Insights” reports (link here).
Prior to this, she was Senior Vice President and Global Head of Investor Strategy at DBRS Morningstar, the credit rating arm of the Morningstar group, leading a new initiative to increase connectivity with buy-side institutional investors across North America and Europe. She held two roles in the TIAA/ Nuveen group; Managing Director and Head of Research at the Nuveen Solutions Group (TIAA’s asset management company), leading asset allocation research and capital market assumptions across all multi-asset portfolios ($65 bn) including the Lipper award-winning target-date funds, and Managing Director – Macro Risk, responsible for macroeconomic and financial markets analysis, scenario design and stress testing, asset valuation models, and emerging risks for the General account portfolio of TIAA ($260 bn). Early career experience includes being Senior Director of Quantitative Research at investment firm New Amsterdam Partners, leading investment models and portfolio analytics for institutional equity funds ($7bn), and investment analyst for GE Capital, evaluating private market investments for GE’s own balance sheet. Indrani also has deep expertise in responsible investing; co-led the study on “Climate Change and Impact on Financial Markets” in TIAA, and sub-advised socially responsible funds even prior to the GFC in her role at New Amsterdam Partners. She has completed consulting research assignments with GIIN (Global Impact Investing Network) on impact investing across asset classes and Moody’s on ESG issues.
Indrani is on the Board of Directors of the Society of Quantitative Analysts (SQA), and had previously led the organization as President (SQA Board of Directors Class of 2022). She was on the Advisory Board of Bloom AI. A strong believer in thought-leadership based investment and risk management, she has been published in the Journal of Investing, Journal of Investment Consulting, and NYSSA Financial Professionals’ Post. She has been a speaker multiple times at leading industry conferences (e.g RiskMinds International, Amsterdam, 2018), regularly presented to the C-level during her work in TIAA/Nuveen group, and been quoted in major media outlets like Reuters (Reuters Interview), Forbes, Financial Planning and Pensions & Investments. She earned an MBA from the City University of New York, while completing the coursework for a PhD (Finance) with a full merit scholarship. She also holds an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management (Bangalore), an undergraduate degree in Economics (Honors) from University of Delhi, and the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) and PRM (Professional Risk Manager) designations.
